You might have walked by the cosmetology room on October 28th and wondered why everything was decorated in pink. There were balloons, ribbons, and a sign covered in pink stickers that read, “Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Spa Day.” As the window stickers stated, the reason for all the pink was the Annual Breast Cancer Spa Day that is held by the ACC students and staff of Cosmetology. The event first began because a coworker of the cosmetology department had cancer, so now they honor her memory by hosting it every year. The all-day event offered many  services for a $15 discount. The services included manicures, haircuts, and facials.

“I got my nails painted, overall it was a good experience and it went to a great cause,” says Lock, a TV Production student.

In total, $1,136 was raised from the event, all of which was donated to The Life With Cancer Foundation of Arlington. The Life With Cancer Foundation of Arlington provides educational resources, support for patients, and classes on how to better manage patient’s conditions.
