For all interested in pursuing a career in the STEM field, the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class is a great option. Even though it attracts students interested in the health and medical field, it attracts students of all interests and strengths. EMT prepares students for emergency situations and gives students practice in problem-solving, communication, and even critical thinking skills. Since EMT requires older students, the age requirement for the class is 16.

“My favorite part of the class is the way the instructors teach the class,” said Maddie Florio.

With Arlington Tech’s Project Based Learning approach, Mr. H, an EMT teacher always looks forward to when his students are participating in clinical rotations. Along with the certification, qualified students participate in clinical rotations that include going in an ambulance and observing doctors taking care of patients.

“Something that I learned that I can use as a life skill is learning how to do CPR. We get them at the beginning of the year through the blue light training company” stated Lia Pigalarga-Infante.

Throughout the year, students will prepare for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification and can potentially earn it, which qualifies them for many jobs such as being a lifeguard, firefighter, medical assistant, or paramedic.

At the end of the day, EMT is a class that teaches students to save lives!
