We are coming up on Winter Break, which means there will be much free time and fun to be had. Sometimes, though, you can get bored during two weeks of complete freedom with nothing to do, but for the people who love sports, I have just the thing for you. This is my guide for the games to watch out for over this break.
College Football
Alabama vs Oklahoma
The first round of playoffs is coming up, and these two beasts of a team are duking it out to see who will go to the second round. Who will come out on top?
Michigan vs Texas
With Michigan’s recent head coach scandal, will they beat the team that beats them in ranking, or will they crumble when the lights shine?
Georgia Tech vs BYU
These are two teams that no one thought would be ranked top 25 in the college football rankings, but when it comes to who is better, this game will hold the answer.
NBA
Dallas Mavericks vs Philadelphia 76ers
VJ Edgecombe vs Cooper Flagg will be the rookie showdown of the year. Cooper Flagg is a solid rookie, even without living up to all the hype. VJ is an outstanding rookie, and a favorite to win Rookie of the Year. This game might be the deciding factor for who exactly deserves Rookie of the Year.
Houston Rockets vs Denver Nuggets
With Houston trading away their young players for older players, the big question is whether or not it can keep up. Will three-time MVP Nikola Jokic put them in their place?
NFL
Los Angeles Chargers vs Dallas Cowboys
The electric offense from both of them is exciting. But with Dallas’s defense being the bottom of the barrel, can Dallas keep up?
New England Patriots vs Baltimore Ravens
Will Drake Maye prove himself to be an MVP against a 2 Time MVP winner? Or will an away game at the Ravens flock be too much for him to handle?
Denver Broncos vs Kansas City Chiefs
With Patrick Mahomes out, will the Broncos prove themselves as playoff contenders? Or will the Chiefs show that they are fighters even without their beloved quarterback?
We at the Chronicle wish a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, and a Happy Kwanzaa, to all who celebrate. We will continue to bring you new content in 2026, but before you go, remember to cozy up, light the fireplace, get some hot chocolate, and turn on some sports.
