Techtastic Strikes Again

Techtastic+Strikes+Again

The day before winter break, Arlington Tech held its third annual Techtastic event during Archers and third period. Though the day before winter break has always been a festive day for activities, the Techtastic competition didn’t start until December 2021. Each year has been a little bit different, but all have had three competitions, and all have included Canstruction.

Canstruction takes place throughout the entirety of Techtastic. Though in previous years Archers’ teams have worked alone, this year, classes were grouped up. Students worked together to bring in as many cans of non-perishables as possible, then each team chose a design to create out of the cans brought in. All cans were taken to Arlington Food Assistance Center, or AFAC, after Techtastic.

The next competition was four-court volleyball, taking the place of the sports competitions that had happened in previous years (Sideline soccer in 2022 and Hot Box in 2021). Archers teams were lined up tournament style for a competition to see who could win the most games of four-court volleyball.

The third competition was trivia. Groups of four or five from each Techtastic team gathered in the Commons to answer five rounds of five questions each, with categories ranging from Pop Culture to Staff questions to Ancient History.

And the winners are (drumroll, please): Third place was Ms. Lee, Mr. Summers, and Mr. Wright’s team. Second place was Mr. Hall and Mr. Schwind’s team. Finally, Dr. Peppers and Ms. Alexander took first place.
