Techtastic is a time when students get to express their artistic, architectural, and teamwork skills. Techtastic always takes place the day before Winter Break. Each year, ACC has three main events, starting during Archers’ period and ending after third period. The points are calculated by each event: CanStruction is worth 65%, Trivia is 20%, and Four-Way Volleyball is 15%. The teams have already been made and the trophies have been ordered.
Students have a few weeks to collect cans and other packaged goods like pasta for CanStruction. Cans are slowly coming in and we are hoping for a flood of cans and goods. Last year, ACC donated over 3,000 pounds of food to AFAC. Archers’ teachers will collect these goods in their classrooms. On December 20, all ACC students will create some sort of figure out of their collected goods for Construction, the first event. The second main event is Trivia which will be led by Mr. Scanlon, which is pretty self-explanatory. Last but not least, the third main event is Four-Way Volleyball, which is volleyball but there are 4 teams instead of 2. Mr. Wright and Mr. Patulski will be running this event in the Box.
The winner’s prize will be a snack or food of some sort. Over the years, Techtastic winners have gotten Krispy Kreme, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Chick-fil-A, and the top three winners get a trophy. In past CanStruction rounds, some students have made Nike shoes, The London Bridge, a Koi Pond, and a Christmas tree out of the goods.
