On September 21, the Latinas Leading Tomorrow (LLT) organized a 5K event in Arlington. The event was held during Hispanic Heritage Month to bring all Latinos together and connect them. Many years ago, this event was started with only a small group of runners, but with time and more recognition of the Latinas Leading Tomorrow organization, more Latinos and people started to come.
To celebrate a donation of $40,000, the 5K race was mainly to focus on the health of a Latino people. There are various factors that may contribute to hesitation among some Latinos when it comes to visiting medical facilities for treatment. The community run was to show the Latino pride and fitness, plus give a place a safe space to feel safe, comfortable and healthy.
Some sponsors include Chase Bank, Microsoft, M&T bank, and Nestlé water. In this event, they also announced that they received the $40,000 on television and how the money will be used to help young Latinas. For a recap of the 5K, watch the Latinas Leading Tomorrow video above.
