According to the internet, nothing beats a Jet2 Holiday. And at the moment, you could save 50 pounds per person (200 pounds off for a family of 4). But what does that even mean? And what is the origin of this deadly confusing meme?
Basically, the NBAJ2H meme is centered around an advertisement for the airline and touring service, Jet2. In the advertisement it obviously says “Nothing beats a Jet2 Holiday,” with the song Hold My Hand by Jess Glynne. According to knowyourmeme.com, The Jet2 Holiday trend relates to strange or stupid things happening on people’s vacations.
Examples of this trend include porta-potties flying away due to high winds, Chuck-E-Cheese mascots getting arrested, people getting smacked in the head by elephants, and people getting stuck in waterslides, all clipped over the sound of the ad.Why did it come into fruition? Why specifically Jet2? Why is it so funny?
The main reason is actually simpler than you think. The reason behind its humor is the irony behind it. Specifically, the upbeat music contrasts with the disastrous and crazy imagery. It is also relatable to an extent because most people also have had travel mishaps during their vacation. The humor factor only amplifies the more weird and convoluted the imagery becomes, with people being pulled by hot air balloons, or children getting smacked upside the head by a fish.
