On July 28th 2025, a Chiikawa theme park was opened in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. It features a few interactive games, character photo areas, stores with exclusive merchandise and more. It’s filled with Chiikawa characters and scenes from the show, perfect for fans to enjoy.
The Show
The show Chiikawa is a popular manga that was later adapted into an anime. It follows the lives of three small animals as they live in their world, performing odd jobs from gardening to hunting down monsters. The main character, Chiikawa, is accompanied by his two best friends, Hachiware and Usagi. All the characters are animals, except for a group of knights called Yoroi-San, who gives them jobs in exchange for money so they can afford their daily needs. This show combines both the cute design of the characters with the slightly darker theme about hardships and struggles in life.
The Attractions
In the theme park, they have exhibits where scenes from the show are played and 3D screens which bring the characters to life. There are themed spots and character stands stationed around the park where you can take photos with your favorites. There’s a spider web catcher game and a meatball rolling game where you can win prizes. There’s also a merchandise store that sells over 200 exclusive pieces located in the back of the park. They sell a variety of different merch options from plushies and keychains, to hats, headbands, and small plush backpacks. One of the main photo attractions is a dome-shaped to resemble Chiikawa’s house, which has a plastic model of him studying hard at his desk. There’s also a scene from one episode where Hachiware fell into the well: there’s a small ditch that you can climb into and take pictures from above. Another exhibit features Usagi standing at the entrance to a room decorated as a forest. The walls and ceiling are projecting Chiikawa and Usagi in a forest making you feel completely absorbed into the world of Chiikawa. Each of the characters have a small space dedicated to them or key scenes from the show.
Cons
On Google Reviews, the rating of this park is 3.8 stars. It is a cute attraction, but it has its downsides. The admission fee to enter is 3,500 yen. It’s a little pricey, but if you’re a big Chiikawa fan it might be worth it (3,500 yen is around $23). Be aware, the attraction is slightly crowded and might have big lines due to popularity. Reviews state that a big part of the attraction is photos. There is also a lot of merchandise and games. A tip you should consider is that the attraction is better if you go during a less crowded time. Lines can build up, especially because of Chiikawa’s rising popularity. The biggest con of the attraction are the lines, stated by Google Reviews. Eating and drinking are prohibited, so make sure to hydrate beforehand. A big part of the attraction also requires QR codes, so be prepared. There are limits on purchases for certain items, and don’t expect it to not be crowded. You might feel a little rushed.
