Once a year, the ACC Commons offers a colorful display of trifold boards while excited sophomores crowd around tables–an electric, nervous energy infects everybody in sight.
The Best Life Fair is the Sophomore keystone, where tenth graders show off how their interests or talents at Arlington Tech connect to the eight dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional, intellectual, occupational, financial, social, spiritual, and environmental. Individuals and groups design their projects in English, but they can take inspiration from any class or extracurricular across Arlington Career Center.
This Tech tradition is designed to encourage and inspire people to educate, express, and take care of themselves in many different ways. Presentations include recommendations for clubs, groups, events, and classes people can participate in to help them learn how to live their best lives.
Each group created a tri-fold board featuring graphics, actionable steps, and research related to their chosen topic. Many guests enjoy the presentations and interactive activities the most, though. Students gave persuasive speeches, but most eased into engaging conversations about the topics they knew so well. Guests enjoyed adding “bad art” to a painting, writing a last line to the story of their lives, taking “shots for thoughts,” or playing a “Spritacular” card game.
The Class of 2027 was proud of an especially positive event. Student leaders designed an original program cover, wrote and facilitated a trivia game, and organized a crew of MCs to lead the event from start to finish! ATAC generously provided a “Snack Attack” as the fair wound down. Overall, the fair was a big hit with students, teachers, families, and judges alike.
This year was an absolute success, complete with inspired school pride, innovation, and creativity.
