For the past few years, Techtastic has been an annual tradition here at our school. The competition takes place on the day before Winter Break, when Archers go up against each other in the three stages of the event: construction, trivia, and a sports event in the gym. It was a chance to strengthen the Arlington Tech community, express our creativity, learn new factoids, and get some exercise in for the day.
However, the competition is most well known for its construction aspect. Students bring cans into their archers, which are used on the day of the event to be stacked into sculptures. The cherry on top is that at the end of the day, all cans are donated to AFAC. This year, the deadline to submit cans to your own archers was December 20th!
While everybody was busy creating their masterpieces, select students from each archers came down to the commons and answered some trivia questions, earning points for their class- points that would then be tallied up to decide a winner.
Finally, the sport stage was held to conclude the festivities for the day. After that, judges stopped by each archers, assessing their can-creations. Classes then resumed as points were counted up and everyone waited to find out who had garnered the most.
Later that day, winners were announced, and we at the Chronicle congratulate all the winners and thank everybody for participating!
