“Joseph, we should have stuck to our usual route home,” I said, my voice trembling with fear.
In a dark town the only light came from the glow of the red moon. My best friends, Dayana and Joseph, and I were walking through the dark town. Our surroundings shrouded in an unsettling silence. The unblinking gaze of black owls followed us in every move. Our faces were revealed only by the sudden flashes of lightning.
Clutching our hands tightly, we began to run. Drawing closer, we realized that the moonlight was casting an ominous glow upon an empty playground, where the swings creaked and the seesaw moved of its own accord.
We all agreed to check what was inside the playground.
“You should open it since you are at the front,” Joseph said.
When I tried to open the gate, I heard a chilling whisper: “Salt and sugar look the same.”
“Did you hear something?” I asked.
“No ,” Joseph replied. The moment I opened the door, Joseph rushed forward and pushed us and closed the gate
He smirked and said “Look who is inside?” and I saw my friend’s head being sliced by an invisible force and landing in my hands.
Just then, I woke up in a panic and was relieved it was just a dream. I found a box labeled “Salt and Sugar Look the Same” at my door…and a Barbie head like the one in my dream.
“Mom!!!” I shouted.
