One of the newest clubs at ACC is Tri-M, a music honor society run by Jonathan Villalobos. This club is part of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) organization. The organization aims to recognize and promote musical and academic excellence, service, and leadership within the young musician community. This year, the club plans on showcasing each member’s talents and what they have been practicing, plus they are going to run several fundraising events throughout the year to help support the club’s activities.
Villalobos thinks that this club is a great experience for the students at ACC since the school doesn’t offer much in terms of music classes. It allows students to participate in something that fulfills them, and it also gives opportunities for community service and leadership. He decided to start the club at ACC since he participated in Tri-M at a past school and really enjoyed it, so he wanted to continue. Additionally, it allowed Villalobos to have a place to practice his music and connect and play with other students interested in music just as he is.
In the future, he hopes for the club to expand with more availability of equipment and for more members to join. Additionally, he wants the club to become more well known within the ACC community and have more people attend each of the club’s events.
For students who also love music and are interested in joining or learning more about the club, they meet every Monday after school from 3:00 to 4:15 in Mr. Schwinds room (242). You can also reach out to Jonathan Villalobos, the club’s president, at [email protected].
