Bites on the Pike: Idido’s Coffee

Bites+on+the+Pike%3A+Ididos+Coffee

Only five minutes away from ACC, Idido’s Coffee should definitely be on your next “to-go” list! Idido’s Coffee is a cafe designed for anyone who wants a productive place to work, while providing quality meals. Their menu offers a selection of food such as espresso coffee and tea, breakfast pastries, and lunch options. From their menu, you often see customers ordering the pesto chicken sandwich, margherita flatbread, and caramel macchiato, with affordable prices below $15!

As soon as you walk in, the employees immediately greet you and assist you throughout your visit. Also, you see a beautifully colored menu in front of you with a pop of color from the pastries layed out beside the counter. The restaurant is fairly compact and small, but there are multiple seating options to choose from such as indoors and outdoors.

“I recommend the caramel frappuccino, especially on hot days in the summer. It’s such a sweet refresher,” said Nashi Abdelhadi, an Arlington Tech student.

A fun fact is the name Idido from the restaurant name came from an area of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, a region that is the birthplace of coffee and known for producing clean, bright washed coffees dominated  by citrus flavor. The owner of Idido’s Coffee, Sofonias Gebretsadick, has worked in the coffee shop and service industry in the DC area for over ten years. He wanted to bring his business to Columbia Pike as it is a popular neighborhood. Now that his first business is a success, Gebretsadick is planning to expand his business to Washington, DC in the next upcoming years.

If you are ever free after school, take a quick walk after school to Idido’s Coffee while hanging out with friends and taking a look at their business. I highly recommend ordering their pastries, especially their blueberry cake!
